Decided to play a round of golf at the Goes Golfbaan. Traffic jams and stop lights the whole way, and it took me two and a half hours to get there. I had a bad case of the duck hooks and lost eight balls in the woods. Lots of double and triple bogies, three pars. Didn't even break ninety. Barely broke a hundred. My worst day of golf all year, maybe even for the last ten years, my whole life even.

Due to water rationing the fairways were yellow and hard as concrete. On the 18th hole I had a last chance to prove myself. There ahead of me was an immense expanse of yellowish fairway, so I could not miss, like hitting the side of a gigantic barn wall. Snap hooked ball yet again into the trees and brush. Never found it, didn't even try looking. This is the result and a fine memento to the wonderful day of golf with my buddies:
