Once when I was in grade school, the class was presented with a surprise pop quiz. The first one who finished would win some prize.

At the top of the quiz, on the very first sentence, it said to be sure first to read through all of the questions before beginning the quiz.

Of course no one did this, everyone was too eager to be the first and win the prize.

So about ten minutes later, upon reaching the last question, it said do not answer any of the questions and instead turn in the quiz immediately with only your name at the top right corner.

Since that amazing insight into the ways and means of life, in desperate distraction I have repeated that mistake unknowingly.

I guess I didn't learn that lesson very well...
